New York. The famous French brand Saint Laurent - formerly known as Yves Saint Laurent - that is today led by Hedi Slimane opened its new flagship store in Soho last week. There is no doubt that Mr. Slimane, who made his name designing skinny suits for skinny men more than a decade ago, is very passionate about the identity of the brand. He still chooses all clothing materials himself, and also supervised the design of this new flagship store, which is influenced by legendary 20th Century architects Jean Prouvé and Marcel Breuer.
The sophisticated style of the new store with its black and white silk marble creates a very contemporary atmosphere. The store is bright and cool, it feels more like a museum with a lot of natural light, than like a classic boutique. In fact, this flagship store represents exactly the picture of the renewed Saint Laurent brand.
