South Beach - On the famous Ocean Drive thoroughfare, an hotel with a Georgian facade stands out from the surrounding art deco architecture. Since its opening in 1942, The Betsy Hotel’s colonial architecture has always denoted among the hotels occupying Miami Beach. The complete renovation of the hotel in 2009 by the award winning Miami architectural firm of Beilinson-Gomez, specialists in the restoration of hotels, and interior designers Diamante Pedersoli and Carmelina Santoro brought to The Betsy a contemporary tropical twist while keeping the colonial spirit. Diamante has worked on homes for Ralph Lauren, while Santoro has designed boutiques for Bulgari. Their universes perfectly blend luxury and refined elegance. The result is a seamless and cozy mix of classic, modern, and tropical design in Georgian style architecture. For The Betsy Hotel, Diamante Pedersoli and Carmelina Santoro have created an original and timeless haven of peace. “Our goal is to make The Betsy at once completely comfortable and familiar, yet create an undeniable mark which would make The Betsy stand out from other hotels in Miami Beach,” says Pedersoli.
The floor to ceiling windows fills the lobby lounge with natural light giving a warm feeling to the guests of the historic hotel. Ivory tones mixed with warm wood tones of the bar and venetian stores, White wooden antique world globes and shutters, Fortuny Sheherazade chandeliers, along with the zebra framed mirrors, safari pictures, and palms enhance the tropical colonial style of the stately hotel and create a clean elegance in the lobby. The designers limited the palette of colors to white, ivory and brown to make the hotel a luxurious space that is elegant, comfortable and bright. Staying at The Betsy Hotel, you will beneficiate from a private beach access and a pool courtyard. Among the other accommodations are The Betsy's deck, a quiet rooftop with a breathtaking view on the palm grove and the Atlantic Ocean. There you can enjoy spa treatments and massage therapies from the Wellness garden.
The sophisticated 1940's Florida Georgian hotel is an intimate oasis to spend a family vacation or relaxing away from the bustle of the city. Ideally located at the North end of Ocean Drive, it is sufficiently far away from the madness of the city and remains at the same time within walking distance from designer’s boutiques on Lincoln Road. The restaurant of the hotel is French chef Laurent Tourondel's BLT Steak, a New York icon of good food since 2004, newly arrived in Miami Beach. The Betsy combines modern amenities (bathroom mirrors include a flat-panel television screen so you can watch the news while brushing your teeth) and the charm of high style architecture of yesteryear for an incredible stay.
Room rates range from $400 to $750 nightly. Suites range from $1,110 to $4,000 nightly. The Betsy, 1440 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139, USA
